With V2 it is much better, but you may need some more balancing and finetuning of the preset programming. It is like in V1 the rendering engine was broken - ALL sounds we're terrible, especially when compared to any other SW piano or specifically PianoTeq. The underlying engine however seems to be capable of generating a very good piano sound. Sometimes you have to tune back the effects a little (don't like a lot of reverb) and all-in-all the bass seems a little softer than the higher registers, but that is something that can easily be fine-tuned in the programming and settings. Some presets have very bad bass registers (very artificial) where others are actually not bad at all. There are some pretty useful presets to be found if you skipp the preset mistakes that are also plenty around. Owning both PT6 and the V2 Piano, I'll have to say that the V2 improves enormously on the V1 version. I assume this sale price would be extended next Xmas. If Arturia fixes some of the glitches which I assume they will, I might be interested next year as it's only $99. I had to find the pedal configuration panel which was hard to find and fix it. Once when I opened it, it consigned my sustain pedal to pitch bend, even after I closed the software and restarted it. The only problems I see with this software is that it has crashed on some people including me when I was scrolling around the presets. I really like the sound of the Japanese Init (I don't know what Init means), and I don't know what Japanese piano it's modeled after, but it has a really great bass, you can almost feel the felt of the hammers, and it has great overtones. This is piano modeling software like Pianoteq, and I wanted to ask some Pianoteq haters to play around with the free demo (which lets you play all the notes for 20 minutes) and express what you think. The new software sounds very authentic IMO. The original software was pretty bad in my opinion.
